Looking for a warm and delicious snack? These Parmesan Wonton Chips are sure to hit the spot! All you need is wonton wrappers and a couple more ingredients you probably have on hand. And since they’re baked, they’re a healthy alternative to a packaged snack!

The other day, I found myself standing in front of my pantry turning my nose up at boxed crackers.

Now, don’t get me wrong. Normally I love boxed crackers. I can make a sleeve of Ritz disappear like nobody’s business. But that day, I just wasn’t feeling it.

10 EaSY WAYS TO FEEL HEALTHY - EVEN IF YOU'RE NOT SUPER FIT!

Are little ones making it harder to find time for a healthy lifestyle? Wish you had more motivation? Here are 10 simple ways to get started feeling great that you can implement in just one day!

As a person with type 1 diabetes, there was a time in my life when I bought a LOT of “diabetes-friendly” cook books. This was, of course, before I realized that ALL food (in moderation) can be diabetes-friendly and that I don’t actually love cooking.

But in my cookbook-hoarding days, I stumbled across this yummy and simple snack recipe that was exactly what I needed. You see, I (like many people) have a tendency to mindlessly eat packaged snacks. I’ve tried buying them in pre-portioned baggies, or even portioning them out in advance myself, but then I usually just wind up eating 6 portions anyway.

Parmesan Wonton Chips

What’s nice about the Parmesan Wonton Chips I’m sharing today is that this snack forces me to not eat more than I make! Kind of silly perhaps, but let’s be honest: I’m lazy, and if it’s going to take time (even a small amount) to bake more chips, I probably will decide I’m good with what I’ve already had. Not to mention that these chips are:

  • Reasonably healthy. As long as you don’t eat a million, they’re pretty low carb and low calorie, and since they’re baked, they’re a lot better for you than traditional chips.
  • Made with olive oil. I love me some good EVOO!
  • Pretty quick to throw together. You’ll have a great appetizer or snack in 10 minutes or less!

THE RECIPE

  • Wonton wrappers (I cut mine in triangles to look like chips)
  • About 1/4 cup (perhaps slightly less) good quality EVOO
  • About 1 tsp basil or rosemary
  • About 1 tsp minced garlic (less if you’re mincing fresh garlic–maybe only 1/2 tsp–because it’s more potent than out-of-a-jar minced garlic)
  • Parmesan cheese, grated or shredded, to taste

DIRECTIONS

  • Preheat your oven to 350F.
  • Line a baking sheet with tin foil and spray it lightly with olive oil cooking spray; arrange your won ton triangles on the sheet.
  • Mix your olive oil, basil, and garlic in a small bowl. Baste your wonton wrappers with a thin coat of the mixture (you don’t want them dripping–if you have leftover mixture just make more wonton triangles).
  • Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on your chips
  • Bake until golden brown. Check on these after 5 minutes and keep a close eye on them after this point, as they can burn easily and faster than you would expect!
  • Enjoy :)
