Hi! I’m Gabby, and I’m thrilled you’re here! On this page you will learn more about me and my idiosyncrasies ;) You might even catch a photo of me with a giant plastic horse! (That counts as eclectic, right?)
I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona (well, a suburb, technically), so I am no stranger to cloudless skies, a lot of dust, and 115 degree summers! It instilled in me a deep and abiding love of dry heat, swimming pools, and central AC systems.
In high school I went to a small charter school with a liberal-arts-centered curriculum, and I loved every minute of it! (I would totally do high school over again–would you?). I went on to get dual degrees in Psychology and Family & Human Development in college. Shortly thereafter, I ended up packing all my worldly possessions into a 12 ft. Penske truck and moving to Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Which brings me to my next point:
I met The Mr. during the fall of my junior year of high school when I joined the speech and debate team he was on (yes, we were debate nerds together!). We ended up going to the same college (he was the year ahead of me) and started dating shortly after I began my freshman year in 2008. We were married three years later! You can check out some of our wedding photos here.
Josh and I were close friends long before we started dating–he’s a fantastic listener (they don’t call me Gabby for nothin’!) and the kindest, sweetest husband a girl could hope to have! He is also one smart cookie. Josh was admitted to Harvard Law in the spring of 2011, which is what prompted our move to Massachusetts the next summer.
Fast forward through three years of law school and another cross-country move back to Phoenix, Arizona and BOOM: We had a new arrival! This beautiful little girl (who shall henceforth be referred to as “Little Bo,” although that is not in fact her name) was born on January 15, 2016 and is the reason I became a Stay At Home Mom. You can read about her birth story here.
MORE FUN FACTS!
I really enjoy learning new vocabulary words, especially obscure ones. Like callipygous or legerdemain. My favorite part of the GRE exam was the vocab section (#vocabnerd). #ialsolikehashtags.
I am a recovering germaphobe. I have this weird thing about having to wear socks in other people’s houses or I get really uncomfortable. My parents kept an impeccably clean floor growing up, so I feel very awkward if anything sticks to my feet. Plus, the germs…!!
Some of my favorite things include: Playing with my little girl, chai tea lattes, photography and photo editing, tasty Paleo recipes and eating REAL food, Netflix marathons, and working on my blog!
I am a Type 1 Diabetic and have been since 2008. It sucks, but it’s made me both a stronger person and impervious to needles.
My all-time favorite TV show is The Office. I have seen every season at least four times, no joke.
And because I promised:
