Looking for the perfect gift for another couple or your spouse? Give the gift of time together with this easy gift card booklet idea!
I absolutely love weddings. Planning them, being in them, going to them. They’re my favorite.
When The Mr. and I got married three (almost four) years ago, one of our most favorite wedding gifts came from my cousin. She made us a booklet from scrapbook paper, and each page had a gift card and a date night idea. I think my favorite part about the gift was that each page of the booklet included a gift card pocket paired with photos of The Mr. and I doing fun things together, like enjoying Italian cuisine in Italy. Or, perhaps more accurately, it included photos of our heads taken from Facebook and photoshopped onto the bodies of other people doing fun things together. But you get the idea–it was cute! And it was a gift that reminded us of the importance of continuing to date, even after marriage.
My sister-in-law was going to be getting married during this Christmas holiday, so when The Mr. and I were trying to decide what to get her, I thought back to that gift my cousin gave us and decided it would be the perfect gift for The Mr.’s sister and her new husband. And now that the wedding is over and the gift is all given, I can share with you how I made it!
- Gift cards to stores of your choice
- 6×6 inch scrapbook paper
- Double sided tape or mounting squares
- Letter stickers of your choice
- Loose Leaf Binder Ring
First, gather all your supplies. We got gift cards to Starbucks, Barnes & Noble, AMC Theaters, Subway, The Cheesecake Factory, and Olive Garden. I found the perfect scrapbook paper at Michael’s: A lot of the paper I saw there at first was wedding themed, but more “our wedding” themed, which was kinda odd given that this was a gift from us to them. This scrapbook paper had a more “life-is-good/life-is-an-adventure” vibe to it, which was super fitting.
I then used mounting squares (for scrapbooking) to stick my gift cards to the scrapbook paper I purchased. Double sided tape would work just fine as well!
I found some cute glittery carnival-y looking alphabet stickers that I used to add little extra touches to each page of the book. I also used them to indicate how much money the unlabeled gift cards were for (Starbucks, for example, doesn’t label the value of the card on the card).
And of course, left a quick little message. It’s a little hard to read at this angle, but it says “Always keep dating”
I loved how it turned out! And they loved it too :) Here is what a few of my favorite book pages ended up looking like:
The scrapbook paper came with a hole punched into the top of each sheet. I think the idea is you’re supposed to cut that portion of the paper off, but I just left it there and used the hole to add a loose leaf binder ring to clip the pages together. I considered making a little binding for the booklet, but that proved a bit more messy/difficult than necessary.
And here is the happy couple! Congrats!!
